‘Architecture is really about facilitating the way people live and experience their surroundings, how people and the things they do interact with their social and physical environment.
Since the buildings around us shape our perception of the world, it’s vitally important that architecture responds to our needs and environment sympathetically. Our practice works collaboratively with clients and a wide variety of construction professionals, and this is why the resulting buildings are so successful.’
‘Quality design adds value to projects of all sizes and types. Often, it’s the little things which make all the difference. When a client you’re working with thinks they’ve explored every possible angle but you come up with a solution they hadn’t considered, the sense of achievement is really satisfying. And the client is very happy about it too.’
‘What I like best is presenting a design to clients which meets their requirements in a way they would never have thought of, and just blows them away. Sometimes the initial shock they feel takes a day or two to subside, but then when they come back saying how much they love what we’ve designed it’s really satisfying.’
'As a spatial designer I have the opportunity to rethink space and be innovative and speculative. I find it intriguing to explore the relationship between the built world and the natural environment. I think its important to always aim to activate space by enriching and amplifying the natural qualities and identity of a site. I appreciate design that is subtle yet evocative, as a young designer I hope to make a positive and meaningful contribution to the built environment.'
'I enjoy working closely with the architects to help turn clients’ dreams and the architects’ designs in to buildable reality.
The latest technology and software we use helps us produce accurate work more efficiently.'
Well designed spaces are effortless to live and/or work in. Being able to create this for a client is very satisfying. When clients talk about their pleasure of living and/or working in the building, how it enhances how they live and that it feels like an extension of themselves, this is our satisfaction as architects. Enhancing our lives through good Architecture is gratifying for the occupants and the wider community. As humans, we should be captivated by our built environment and have the pleasure to live in comfortable, warm and delightful buildings.
Architecture ought to address the environment as our daily existence is shaped by our surroundings and therefore how we live. By designing sustainably, we can create a built environment which is respectful to our landscape. Sustainable design is achieved through a wide range of strategies including building orientation, material selection, and construction methods. I worked in Australia where certain environmental factors have strongly driven the need for designing and building sustainably. The knowledge I gained in Australia has enhanced both my understanding and my passion for sustainable design. In New Zealand, we need to strive to develop robust sustainable principles in all our designs and as an architect I embrace these principles.
'Architecture to me is about the client expressing their needs, the role of an architect is to interpret this and design a space that reflects this in the most effective way.
The process our team undertakes with each client ensures the best results are achieved, every small decision is integral to the overall design.
Clients place a lot of trust in us, and because of this it is crucial that we add value to every project we work on.'
