urban design &
Masterplanning

creating community

Our approach to urban design, as with architecture, is founded on understanding people, place, and identity.

We like to design a whole environment, considering individual buildings or homes as part of a cluster or community rather than a series of separated, self-contained lots.

CONTEXT, IDENTITY, DIVERSITY

Our solutions are unique and site-specific, and our goal is to create diverse, and vibrant, connected communities that acknowledge and embrace the geographic and cultural context in which they exist.

This requires the consideration of a variety of housing and section types and sizes, provision of a range of vehicle and pedestrian connectivity options, planning for physical and social infrastructure and amenities, green spaces, and the weaving of cultural narratives.

We design knowing that the work we undertake today, shapes places and communities well into the future.

JACK’S LANDING SUBDIVISION, HAMILTON

Reclaiming land between Hamilton’s Kahikatea Drive industrial centre and Lake Rotoroa (Hamilton Lake), Jack’s Landing creates a pocket of medium-density housing, with central green space and pedestrian walkways that connect residents to the existing high-value residential neighbourhood.

CAMBRIDGE PARK SUBDIVISION, CAMBRIDGE

The success of the Cambridge Park neighbourhood design is based on a grid pattern street and walkway layout centred around a village green and cafe, complementing the existing tree-lined Cambridge character. It was purposefully designed to provide a range of lifestyle options, with lot sizes allowing for a variety of housing sizes and types, including pockets of higher density clustered near the 'oval' and the existing town green belt.

LE QUESNOY PLACE TOWNHOUSE ENCLAVE, CAMBRIDGE

Le Quesnoy Place on the edge of the Cambridge town centre, occupies an enviable location on the banks of the Waikato River. The success of this European-style enclave, lies in the common 'language' of materials and design details shared by the fifteen townhouses. Each is unique and individual, yet the development has a strong identity and clear style.

testimonial

"Their work on Cambridge Park residential development shows innovation and flair that far over-shadows recent local attempts at bland and uninteresting sub-divisions."
